Automotive Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Background:

The client is a Japanese multinational automaker in Fuchu, Hiroshima. They engage in Sky Active technology for the newest generation of automakers. Their retail revenues advanced 6% to 922.6 billion yen ($8.37 billion) in January-March.

Challenges:

Before implementing SoftClouds solutions, the client encountered higher cost management for hardware to manage and maintain the server infrastructure. They had VPN connections tunneling-related issues while integrating between different on-prem apps and the cloud environment. There was a challenge when integrating systems for cross-origin/global authentication systems. Changing data centers from North America to Japan caused latency issues for international users. The federation was different for each market and often had issues.

Solutions:

SoftClouds provided a comprehensive 360-degree solution that was innovative and utilized a variety of platforms, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). We engaged in the design, architecture, and implementation of better business processes, such as:

  • Enabled global expansion to other markets without hardware or support dependency
  • Provided security using SSO/federation authentication for each market
  • Integration with various sub-systems from vendors & business markets
  • Switched over from on-premise to cloud with minimal outage
  • Migrated 28 million files (5 TB data to cloud)

Outcomes:

SoftClouds was able to efficiently reorganize and bring the client’s processes up to date as an outcome of the project’s success. As a result, the client obtained these benefits:

  • Reduced cost of operations
  • Single platform for multiple needs of different business
  • Easier to maintain; the system is cloud-based & doesn’t require special access
  • The previous single system has expanded to all markets

Testimonial

“The client’s migration from on-premise to OCI was a huge advantage for a global solution to expand based on business demand. The OCI manages the platform’s security – better than an on-premise system. SoftClouds OCI architects ensured the integrations were secured and improved the search functionality for technicians and aftermarket users.”
